September 24 in NY, on the sidelines of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly, Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Marat Tazhin met his colleagues from Slovakia, Estonia, Lithuania, Morocco and Greece; at the meetings he discussed acute issues of interaction with the mentioned states in political, trade-and-economic and humanitarian realms.

September 24 in NY, on the sidelines of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly, Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Marat Tazhin met his colleagues from Slovakia, Estonia, Lithuania, Morocco and Greece; at the meetings he discussed acute issues of interaction with the mentioned states in political, trade-and-economic and humanitarian realms.

In particular, in the course of the meeting with Jan Kubish of Slovakia the sides pointed to the prospects of mutual investments into pharmaceuticals, machinery building, tourism, energy, transport and communications. According to the diplomats, the forthcoming visit of Kazakhstan President N. Nazarbayev to Slovakia will give a new impetus to development of bilateral ties, including in the realm of large-scaled infrastructure projects.

Economic cooperation was on the agenda at the meeting with Foreign Minister Petras Vaitiekunas of Lithuania who reiterated his country’s interest to the Kazakh investments. The sides also discussed prospects of interregional cooperation.

At the meeting with Foreign Minister Urmas Paet of Estonia, the sides extensively exchanged their opinions on the EU policy for Central Asia as well as on prospects of regional integration. Besides, they pointed to the importance of more active political cooperation, including in the frameworks of international organizations.

Galvanization of trade-and-economic ties between Kazakhstan and Greece was detailedly discussed in the course of the meeting of Mr. Tazhin and Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis of Greece. In this context, Mr. Tazhin emphasized Kazakhstan’s interest to participation in projects to transport Kazakhstan hydrocarbons to the European markets.

The main issue of the talks with Morocco's Foreign Minister Mohamed Benaissa was the forthcoming visit of His Majesty the King Mohamed VI of Morocco to Kazakhstan. The sides reiterated their nations’ interest to enhancement of mutually beneficial cooperation and dwelt on expansion of trade-and-economic ties. When closing the talks, the Kazakh Foreign Minister invited his Moroccan counterpart to attend the “Muslim World – the West” ministerial meeting.

On the whole, the meeting. showed that these nations have been expressing interest to Kazakhstan, viewing the country as a key partner in Central Asia.
