Japan's Emperor Akihito contracted tuberculosis when he was a teenager. The 75-year-old royal revealed his four-year battle with the deadly disease at an event celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association in Tokyo yesterday (18.03.09). Yutaka Sasaki thinks the 75-year-old royal - who is protected by a centuries-old law which bans the Japanese monarch from eating the fish, known as fugu - should "set a good example" and chow down.
